Why did you join the T.R.U.S.T.? To be a part of others who seek to make a positive change in their lives and others.
What does being a T.R.U.S.T. Fellow mean to you? I feel that I am more than just an inmate, that even now I can be a positive force in my community.
Since coming to prison, what have you accomplished? I’ve developed a profound sense of family and community. I realize that my actions no only affect me but my loved ones. I am in my fourth semester of college courses with a goal of my degree. I am and will remain financially independent.
What are some of your hobbies and interests? I’ve always been physically fit. Now I’m more interested in being healthy. Jogging. Chess. Meditation. A good Book.
What programs are you involved with other than the T.R.U.S.T.? Patten College. Keepin’ It Real. The Muslim community. The Chess Club.
What kind of work do you do with the “inside” and/or “outside” communities? I try to be a role model for the youth here and encourage them in ways to stay out of here. As a new member of the T.R.U.S.T., I have some ideas that will help my community, which I intend to.
How do you live up to the T.R.U.S.T. value system? How do you promote the ideals of the T.R.U.S.T. outside the workshops? Before I was accepted as a member, the principles of the organization were a part of my life. I’ll always ask new people to attend the T.R.U.S.T. to better themselves.
What do you want to do after you parole? I intend to start a business in the Bay Area. A game room of sophistication: chess, pool, backgammon. A lounge.
What are your long-term goals? I really am focused on making sure my son can have every opportunity that life can offer to be successful. I personally want to learn to fly an aircraft. I plan to travel the world. Experience other cultures and lifestyles. Mecca being my first stop.
Personal message to the outside community: My being here is proof that I did some destructive things in society. My words will never convince you that I can also be a great asset in making your life and those around you save. Just watch me shine.
