Workshops E-mail
One of the central components of the T.R.U.S.T. program is its weekly workshops on Thursday afternoons. The workshops are offered in a 3-module, 11-unit series in order to assist and prepare incarcerated men to become assets to themselves, their families and their communities. These workshops are prepared and delivered in collaboration with volunteers from the University of San Francisco and other area specific professionals, who provide research and facilitation support. The T.R.U.S.T. Fellows offer peer-to-peer training on each topic, aiding and educating their fellow prisoners in bettering themselves and preparing to be positive contributing members of their communities.

The T.R.U.S.T. believes that for men to make the transformation from being a liability to being an asset, a three-step process must occur. First, they must address their pre-existing value system and determine what values led to negative behavior and actions. Then, they must purge themselves of these negative value systems. Next, they must adopt a new value system that enhances their possibilities and leads to a positive lifestyle. Finally, we help the men determine their community marketability, discuss community activism, and develop a definitive release plan.

The three modules are the Purging Process, the Trust Value System, and Re-Entry and Community Building. Each of the 11 units takes approximately one month (four class sessions). See the Curriculum page for more detailed information on our workshops.
